What is this world coming too … really?
For those of you that love technology and how it interacts with our life, imagine sitting at your flat panel tv with a Logitech Revue / Google TV device writing up content for what you want to share with the globe and watching Stripes. I can, cause I’m doing it!
Our world is coming closer and closer together with our neighbors only being 6 inches from index finder to pinky away. And the keyboard is awesome.
I think I know where you are going with this … key word … “think”
Thank you to my Brasilian friends that posted this on their FB walls yesterday. This short video of David Garibaldi on YouTube shows simplistically how our minds try to digest information and process it without really knowing the end game.
Yes it is a beautiful work of art and an inspiration, but while you watch it, pay attention to what your are thinking or expecting next. That is the challenge we face in a rapid fire society. We are bombarded with new information simultaneously on a regular bases. As we sort through the information we start trying to compile the meanings while multi-tasking. We discern on the information we have and forecast where it is leading us. We error many times in not fully listening; therefore, finding ourselves in situations where we are speaking the non-truth.

It may be the “truth” our minds processed on limited information, but it really isn’t the truth as intended to be presented to us. Let’s be aware of what our minds are doing and not try to get “a-head” of our selves (some pun intended). Let us all strive to be excellent communicators and not get bogged down in misinterpretations.
Who and where is your audience? How do you know?
Humm, who and where is the market for Spiritual Blindness? Who buys new tees? Where can I get a widget? So as a potential entrepreneur, how do you find out what audience you are truly trying to reach and where are they? Is it something you can just “think” up? You know, put some quieting music on and strap on your headsets. Close the door and put your feet up. Slowly put your hands behind your head as you stretch back and hum to yourself. When you contemplate the cosmos
of your audience, WHAM, it will come to you … Not normally, but I wouldn’t put it totally outside the realm of plausibility.
Do you just wait for someone to tell you who your audience is? Like the audience for buying new cars is the segment of the population with driver’s licenses and money … NOT! What about teenagers that don’t have licenses yet, but have big influences on their parents and have their parents wrapped around their little fingers. Don’t you think they are looking at what they want the “parentals” to buy them when they are old enough?
I don’t know a bunch about all this social media and networking stuff, but I do recall someone telling me that you need to be willing to listen to learn. So I listen. OK, I still don’t get it so I’ll listen some more. HELLO, I’M LISTENING … How does that apply to discovering your audience?
Listen to others on-line, outside, in classrooms, anywhere you can. Don’t just use your ears, listen with your eyes and nose. Use your hands to type/tap out your observations or to push the button on your digital recorder to capture the valuable realities. Go listen with communities that you may think are you audience and observe them. For me and ohmybraille tees it is the going and observing who is wearing tees? What age group(s)? How did they find out about the tee they are wearing? Why did they buy it? On-line, who is tweeting about buying tees? Is there an expert or a guru source that has influence on the next great tee idea? How would you know?
This post has to seem a little imbalanced and I guess that was the intent. Without a lot of money to buy others resources to tell you who your audience is, you are going to have to be creative and find out the ole fashion way … Act Now and go do it! Get out and live a little. Be larger than normal and go see what is out there and where your next global audience is and how they act.
Sounds reasonable so I better go do it! Maybe there will be a nice restaurant nearby while I “observe” my potential audience.
Are you aware?
We’re not asking if you are alert. Are you aware? According to Webster’s Dictionary, aware is defined as knowing; realizing; conscious. Are you knowing of your surroundings? Are you conscious with all your senses?
Are you the type that has perfect concentration and tunes out society when reading the newspaper?
Odds are we are not aware of ourselves or our surroundings. So how can you help others become aware of His kingdom and you don’t realize that the light turned green while you were thinking of the first thing that you had to do when you got to the office? Gotcha! If you haven’t done that yet, be-aware, you will.
The point is to practice becoming aware of who you are, what you are doing, where you are, and where you are going. In today’s fast and furious society, we don’t take the time to understand ourselves yet we preach to others on what they should be aware of. If that sounds backwards, you’re right.
Take a breath, smell the roses, see God’s glory, and taste what is sitting on your fork! Then you will be better positioned to assist others.
